PS3 Super Slim, Sony annuncia ufficialmente il nuovo modello di PS3 al TGS 2012

Svelato il nuovo modello super sottile.

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) ha annunciato ufficialmente la nuova PlayStation 3, più sottile delle precedenti versioni, direttamente dal palco del Tokyo Game Show 2012.

Durante la sua conferenza in queste ore all’evento nipponico dedicato al mondo videoludico, Sony ha quindi tolto il velo sulla nuova console ribattezzata dagli esperti del settore come la PS3 Super Slim, un modello più sottile di tutti, composto da materiale più economico e allestita con HDD molto capienti.

L’uscita della console sul mercato statunitense avverrà il 25 Settembre 2012 con il modello da 250 GB al prezzo di 269,00 euro e il 30 Ottobre 2012 con il modello da 500 GB ad un prezzo non ancora dichiarato. Entrambi i modelli saranno commercializzati in bundle con vari titoli, con un valore pari a 70 euro circa. Negli Stati Uniti andrà sul mercato con Uncharted 3: L’Inganno di Drake edizione Gioco dell’Anno e in più l’accesso a Dust 514. La versione da 500 GB sarà disponibile solo in limitate unità in uscita con l’arrivo di Assassin’s Creed III.

In Europa il debutto avverrà il 28 Settembre 2012 anche con un modello piccolo da soli 12 GB (probabilmente con una unità interna di memorizzazione di tipo SSD) al prezzo di 229,00 euro, mentre la versione da 500GB sarà disponibile in bundle con FIFA 13 al prezzo di 299,99 euro.

La società ha sottolineato come l’avvento di questo nuovo modello è in linea con quanto già visto nella storia con PS2 e PSP.

Tokyo, September 19, 2012 – Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced the new PlayStation®3(PS3®) computer entertainment system (body color: charcoal black / classic white^*1), featuring a new design and a downsized form factor, will become available worldwide this holiday season. The new PS3 will come in 3 models including extended built in Hard Disk Drive (HDD) capacity of 500GB model and 250GB model, and a newly added 12GB flash memory model.  Availability of models, prices and launch dates of the new PS3 system in each region are as follows.

Completely  redesigning the internal design architecture,  the internal volume and weight of the new PS3 is reduced by more than half compared to the very first PS3 model with a 60GB HDD, and by 20 % and 25% respectively compared to the current PS3. By adopting a sliding disk cover, the new PS3 continues with the characteristic sleek curved simple body design, which fits various places in the home and enables users to enjoy an array of entertainment content.

With the extra HDD capacity which has been extended from 320GB and 160GB, users can store and enjoy more and more entertainment content including games, music, photos, and video on the new PS3.  In addition, the new PS3 with 12GB flash memory offers opportunities to experience the world of PlayStation® at an affordable price point.  Users can also expand the storage capacity of the new PS3 with 12GB flash memory by connecting a dedicated HDD (250GB) to be released concurrently with the new PS3^*4.  In addition, a variety of accessories will be introduced by SCE to meet various kinds of needs from users including a vertical stand that offers more flexibility in how the new PS3 can be displayed^*5.

Since the launch of PS3 in November 2006, the number of BD-based titles has reached more than 3,300 titles and downloadable PS3 games to 4,100^*6 titles worldwide, with the support from a broad range of third party developers and publishers.  In addition to this extensive software title line-up, exciting and attractive new titles are to be released from third party developers and publishers as well as SCE Worldwide Studios, including Call of Duty Black Ops 2 (Activision Publishing, Inc.), Assassin’s Creed III (Ubisoft Entertainment.), FIFA 13(Electronic Arts Inc. ), PlayStation® All-Stars Battle Royale, LittleBigPlanet Karting, God of War: Ascension (Sony Computer Entertainment), and more.

SCE will further accelerate the expansion of the PS3 platform which is in the 7th year of its lifecycle, by continually releasing a vast library of exciting and attractive software titles and offering users a choice from a variety of hardware models.

*1               The new PS3 in classic white will become available in Japan from November. Other regions and countries will follow this
