Tutto ciò che c’è da sapere sulle prime GPU Polaris.
In occasione dell’E3 2016, AMD ha ufficialmente presentato le nuove schede grafiche Radeon RX 480, RX 470 e RX 460, che debutteranno nel corso di questa estate e saranno le prime a beneficiare della nuovissima architettura Polaris.
Già svelata due settimane fa, la Radeon RX 480 è stata pensata per offrire performance elevate nel gaming ad una risoluzione 1440p ed è la soluzione migliore se si cerca una scheda adatta alle esperienze VR senza spendere troppo, in quanto il prezzo partirà da 199$ per la versione da 4GB. Alla famiglia delle RX si aggiungono poi le due nuove arrivate: la Radeon RX 470 è in grado di offrire prestazioni al top nel gaming in 1080p, mentre la Radeon RX 460 è un’efficiente soluzione per l’esperienza di gaming e-sport definitiva.
Ancora non si hanno dettagli su prezzi e versioni di queste due schede grafiche, anche se non è difficile prevederli: considerando che la top di gamma parte dai 200$, i prezzi della RX 470 e della RX 460 dovrebbero attestarsi intorno ai 150$. Se le schede grafiche in questione saranno in grado di offrire ottime prestazioni a questi costi, AMD avrà tutte le carte in regola per essere estremamente competitiva e sbaragliare la concorrenza, perciò NVIDIA potrebbe avere parecchio filo da torcere.
I processori grafici della serie Radeon RX sono progettati per rivoluzionare l’industria del PC gaming, e in questo senso AMD punta ad offrire performance di alto livello a prezzi molto bassi, soprattutto nell’ambiente della realtà virtuale che sta cominciando a prendere piede. In questo modo, chiunque potrà godersi esperienze in VR senza spendere un patrimonio. Inoltre, queste GPU verranno anche implementate nelle console (RX 480 – PS4 NEO?) e nei notebook: riguardo questi ultimi, AMD intende aggirare i limiti dei PC portatili in termini di gaming e renderli nuovamente validi nel settore videoludico senza dover rinunciare al Full HD.
“Oggi solo il 16% dei giocatori su PC acquista regolarmente nuove GPU in grado di offrire un’esperienza di gioco fluida e qualitativamente appagante. Milioni di giocatori utilizzano tecnologie ormai datate, e chi possiede un notebook spesso è costretto a scendere a compromessi per poter giocare. Questi giocatori possono solamente leggere di queste impressionanti esperienze di realtà virtuale su PC, poiché devono rinunciarvi. Tutto questo cambierà con la serie Radeon RX, perché permetterà che tutto ciò sia alla portata di tutti”, ha affermato Raja Koduri di AMD.
I giocatori che avranno intenzione di acquistare una nuova scheda grafica, quindi, potranno affidarsi alla nuova serie Radeon RX, che può essere riassunta sotto tre caratteristiche:
- Tecnologia superiore progettata per performance mai viste prima – La serie Radeon RX dispone delle più avanzate tecnologie grafiche mai viste in una GPU sotto la soglia dei 300$ e permette di usufruire anche della realtà virtuale. La rivoluzionaria architettura Polaris è ottimizzata per il processo a 14nm FinFET, che vanta i transistor più piccoli mai utilizzati in una GPU in grado di offrire performance e potenza senza precedenti.
- Straordinarie esperienze VR alla portata di tutti – Con modelli che partono da 199$, la Radeon RX 480 è la soluzione migliore per gettarsi nella realtà virtuale, in quanto dispone della potenza necessaria per gestire dispositivi come Oculus Rift e HTC Vive.
