Sony ha confermato che presto sarà commercializzato un pad per Playstation 3 dotato anche di vibrazione

Solo ieri avevamo dato la notizia dell’imminente commercializzazione di un pad per PS3 capace di vibrare (era stato svelato da Electronic Arts durante una conferenza alla vigilia del TGS 07) ed avevamo concluso l’articolo avanzando il dubbio circa il nome che sarebbe stato scelto per il nuovo controller.
Oggi non ci sono più dubbi, Sony ha annunciato ufficialmente il nuovo pad dotato di vibrazione e lo ha “battezzato” DualShock 3 (in pole tra i nomi ipotizzabili). La nuova versione del controller Sixaxis di Playstation 3 sarà un pad wireless dotato non solo del sensore di riconoscimento dei movimenti ma anche del dispositivo che permette la vibrazione, sarà disponibile in Giappone a partire da Novembre come accessorio da acquistare separatamente alla console. Sul mercato Nord Americano ed Europeo, invece, il DualShock 3 sarà disponibile a partire dalla primavera 2008.
Sony ha poi parlato delle caratteristiche del nuovo controller, sottolineando che l’unione tra la tecnologia di riconoscimento dei moviementi e la vibrazione consente ai videogiocatori un’esperienza di gioco più realistica ed intuitiva. Per quanto riguarda i titoli che beneficeranno della tecnologia (re)introdotta con il nuovo DualShock3, il colosso nipponico afferma che essa stimolerà la fantasia dei produttori di videogames nel processo di sviluppo dei titoli e sarà ben presto applicata a tutti i nuovi giochi Playstation 3; per i titoli già disponibili niente paura, potrebbero diventare compatibili con la vibrazione attraverso un semplice aggiornamento software.

DUALSHOCK 3 WIRELESS CONTROLLER WITH RUMBLE FEATURE TO BE INTRODUCED FOR PLAYSTATION 3
Tokyo, September 20, 2007 – Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) today announced that it would release DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller, a new controller for PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) incorporating a rumble feature, in Japan in November as a separately sold accessory. It inherits the basic design and functionality of the popular PlayStation controller, while keeping the high-precision, high response motion sensitive six-axis sensing system. Introduction to North American and European markets is expected in spring 2008.
The added rumble feature, combined with the highly realistic motion sensitive six-axis sensing system, takes gamers deeper into the world of interactivity, delivering a more intuitive, realistic and immersive game play experience. The new controller will also benefit PS3 content creators, by giving them the ability to further expand their creative imagination. PS3 titles that are already in the market may become compatible with the rumble feature through software update.
With DUALSHOCK 3 and the attractive lineup of PS3 titles incorporating the rumble feature, SCEI will introduce more new ways of enjoyment that can only be found on PS3, and will further redefine the world of entertainment.
